Now Watching: Demonic Toys

As a fan of the Puppet Master franchise I've seen Puppet Master Vs. Demonic Toys, and now thanks to instant Netflix, I'm able to see the original Demonic Toys for the first time. While not one of my favorite full moon feature, I enjoyed it. Review and score after the jump.

Another from the "Charles Band was freaked out by a doll when he was a kid" series of Full Moon Features, I found Demonic Toys to be pretty enjoyable. It follows a female cop as she chases a couple of arms dealers into a toy wearhouse after a botched sting operation kills her partner. It just so happens that 66 years before on halloween, some trick-or-treaters buried a stillborn demonic baby in the foundation of the building, and when some blood was spilled on the floor the demon started to awaken. Since he isn't very powerful yet, he animates some toys to kill everyone in the wearhouse so he can get more powerful. It turns out the cop is pregnant and the demon wants to use her baby to try being born again.

there's some fun deaths in it, baby oopsy daisy gets some good puns, and i liked the turn at the end of the spirit of the unborn child helping his mother defeat the demon. Other highlights for me were the creepy tricycle girls, made me wonder if Stephen Moffat saw this movie.
Long lost siblings?

It was also fun to see Richard Speight Jr (Gabriel/Trickster on Supernatural) as a nerdy KFC employee, and i enjoyed the demon taking the form of a child but having the demon voice, reminded me of Balok

Care to join me for some tranya?

The acting wasn't too great, and the effects were mixed, but i tended to like them. A few plot holes and coincidences, but i enjoyed it for what it was.
