Legends Never Die: SAW Rewatch Part 3

DLB's second, what was originally supposed to be the final of the series, ended up not even being the last for Bousman. I think this is my favourite of the sequals...

I actually have one of the posters above, the charity version where the red ink is mixed with Tobin Bells actual blood, pretty cool if you ask me.

This installment picks up right where SAW 2 left off, with detective matthews freeing himself from the SAW bathroom, but he does it by smashing his ankle with the porcelin toilet lid, rather than by cutting off his foot.

From there we catch back up with Kerry and Rigg, who are at the scene of jigsaw's latest test subject, Troy the Chainman. Kerry's obsessed with finding detective matthews, and knowing what lies in store for the franchise, new addition detective hoffman does a fine job in his introduction.

Kerry's hot on jigsaws trail, so she's picked up and finds herself in the angel of death trap, which she soon finds is unwinnable, much like troys test. Not consistant with John Kramer's MO, but as we know from part two, he's taken on an apprentice.

Next we're introduced to Dr. Kerry, who is tasked with keeping jigsaw alive long enough for him to watch Jeff finish his game.

I'm going to change direction here, i don't think i want to keep running through the plot, at least in this detail, anyone that's seen it knows what happened, and anyone that hasn't is probably lost already, or not reading.

Instead i want to focus on why i like this movie, I like this movie because it's about fogiveness. it's about Jeff forgiving the people that hurt him through the loss of his son. It's about amanda forgiving jigsaw, and her victems to give them a chance. i feel like this is the culmination of john kramers work as jigsaw, that he was really trying to fix jeff and lynns marriage, that he was wanted jeff to be able to forgive and move on with his life, that he wanted amanda to be able to carry on his work in spirit, not just practice, so that she could help people like she had been helped. But it didn't work, everything fell apart, amanda shot lynn, jeff killed amanda, then john, which resulted in the death of his wife, this was the best efforts john kramer had to change people and do good in the world, and they completely and utterly failed.

I loved the ending, with jeff realizing that the final test was not with tim in the rack, but with jigsaw himself, and if he couldve found it within himself to truely forgive and move on, he would have gotten his daughter back. I loved the door that it opened for a sequal, although i don't like how it was handled, but i'll get to that in the next one.

Definitely watch this movie, i feel like it would almost work on its own despite being the third in the series, anyways, on to the rating.
